India Won The Asian Champion Trophy - Match Summary

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 4-2 via the penalty shoot-out in a nerve-wrecking final to clinch the inaugural Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Ordos, China, on Sunday.

Earlier, during the match, both India and Pakistan had ample opportunities to settle the issue in regulation time. Pakistan earned seven penalty-corners to India's one, but they failed to beat the Indian defense and the goalkeeper Sreejesh.

The epic battle saw the two teams struggle for a goal and go at full-time deadlocked at 0-0. Even the 15-minute extra-time failed to yield a result, taking the match to penalty shootouts that was held under altered rules with the striker taking on the goal-keeper from a 23-metre line for eight seconds. However, it was India who emerged victorious after a better display in the breaker.
